Cybersecurity for Leaders and Boards in Construction

Cybersecurity for Leaders and Boards in Construction
Would you like to practice leading an organization through a cyberattack before your own organization is in the line of fire? In collaboration with the Board Association’s Center for Cyber Competences, ConTech Lab and Molio, this course is designed for executives and board members in the construction sector. Through a realistic simulation combined with expert input and guided dialogue, you will experience the consequences of a cyber incident, make critical decisions, and discuss key dilemmas – before it becomes real.

Cybersecurity for Leaders and Boards in the Construction Sector

This intensive course is designed for executives, board members, and key decision-makers in the construction and civil engineering sector who need a clear, strategic understanding of cyber risks and digital resilience. The day is built around the specific tasks, roles, and responsibilities of management and boards, the current threat landscape, applicable regulation, and the most central leadership principles for digital resilience.

Why Cybersecurity Matters in Construction

Cybersecurity in construction is not just about protecting a single company. It requires common methods, clear requirements, and practical routines that actually work on the construction site. This demands awareness, training, and shared habits across the entire value chain. Security must be integrated from the start and followed up continuously, supported by risk mapping, clear requirements in tenders and contracts, robust ICT agreements, and ongoing monitoring.

What You Will Learn

Throughout the course you gain insight into:

  • The overall cyber threat landscape, including the threats most relevant to the construction and civil engineering sector
  • How management best handles the need for digital resilience and data resilience in practice
  • The requirements of NIS2 and your company’s responsibilities and obligations
  • How to manage defects, delays, and additional costs in connection with cyber incidents
  • Effective internal and external communication before, during, and after an incident

Experience the Cyber Risk Simulator

A central element of the day is the Cyber Risk Simulator – an interactive case where you work through a simulated cyberattack. You explore what the responsibilities, roles, and tasks of leadership and the board are when a cyberattack hits, and which strategic decisions must be made before, during, and after the incident.

Participants work through the simulated attack and reflect on the strategic choices required of the board and executive management, and how these choices can be translated into concrete governance, processes, and follow-up in their own organizations.

Learning Approach

The teaching model is case-based and dialogue-driven. We build on the competencies present in the room and aim to make complex topics manageable, so you can convert new knowledge into practical action in your company. The focus is on strategic understanding, decision-making, and governance rather than technical details.

Key Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will have:

  • A strategic overview that enables you to understand cyber risks, ask the right questions, make relevant trade-offs, and take sound decisions related to the prevention and protection of your company’s digital assets
  • A certificate from recognized providers within cyber competencies and construction – a valuable document when your company needs to demonstrate competencies in this critical area

Who Should Attend?

The course is aimed at:

  • Top executives
  • Managers
  • Board members
  • Influencers and key advisors to these roles in the construction sector
